Women Are Diagnosed With Posttraumatic Stress Disorder More Than Men, Says Research
Males experience more traumatic events on average than do females, yet females are more likely to meet diagnostic criteria for post-traumatic stress disorder, according to a review of 25 years of research reported in the November issue of Psychological Bulletin, published by the American Psychological Association. Children With Higher Intelligence Appear To Have Reduced Risk Of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
Children who are more intelligent at age 6 may be less likely to experience trauma by age 17 and if they do, may be less likely to develop post-traumatic stress disorder, according to a report in the November issue of Archives of General Psychiatry, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.
